C Abundance π
Very good news !π
McGuff Pharmaceuticals, Inc. went through the trouble (and expense!) of getting a commercial product of injectable ascorbic acid approved by the FDA.
Introducing ...
Ascor® (Ascorbic Acid Injection, USP)
Why did McGuff do this? There was concern that the FDA might take away the right to compound ascorbic acid. Ascor® Press Release here.
Thank you McGuff, for guaranteeing that my treatment will continue to be available, and easier to get!π
To expedite the FDA process, McGuff sought only approval of the treatment of scurvy with injectable ascorbic acid. In the future, McGuff plans to administer clinical trials to demonstrate what other diseases injectable ascorbic acid can treat, and work on FDA approval for those. Of course, doctors can use it off-label.
Thank you, McGuff!π
I just sent my first prescription for Ascor to my insurance home delivery pharmacy, so we can start the argument of whether they will pay for it right away.
Without injecting ascorbic acid, I have symptoms of scurvy. With injections of ascorbic acid, I make better collagen, build muscle, have energy, can sleep, think, heal, recover and I do not bruise easily. In short, my symptoms of scurvy dramatically lessened. This does not solve all my EDS problems, but never in my life have I felt this good or been able to do so much exercise and activity.
On injectable ascorbic acid, I went from totally disabled, not-able-to-function-after-age-13, life-of-unending-torture to extraordinarily high-functioning EDSer, out there looking good and having fun, which is the meaning of life. Yay!
This is excellent management of my rare genetic disorder, so inexpensive and not at all inconvenient, compared to being severely affected by Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
Have I mentioned to McGuff the success Dr. Plance has had treating my symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome with their injectable ascorbic acid? Yes.
McGuff responded with a most graciously, very happy to know that their product gives me quality of life.
Maybe one day McGuff will run a clinical trial on treating Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) with intramuscular injections of ascorbic acid? Somebody should.
In the meantime, maybe you would like to try it yourself? You will need your doctorβs help.
