My Mention in Forbes

I awoke this morning to a mention in Forbes. That was a nice surprise.

Good Morning to me!

Hopefully, my misspelled name will be fixed by the time you read this.

Madorra Pennington c’est moi.

This seasoned writer (awww, shanks Forrbes!) has a lot more words the world has never before seen. They are for sale.

I write all the time.

My mother, in addition to having borderline personality disorder, had a mood disorder and was actively psychotic. She was a lot.

As the first degree relative of a brain like that, I have an inclination towards language and poetry. This is a thing that is seen in families like mine. Rivers of words flow through my life experience. I always have something to say.

Even more than enjoying writing, I enjoy re-writing. I was shocked to find out, while taking writing classes, most people need to be taught to edit. Who knew?

As an ardent re-writer, I can tell the same story told in an entirely different way. Or tell a different part of it. With different focus, different insight. I like seeing it change and grow.

When I talk about something on my blog, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. I try to keep my posts short, and they rarely are. But they are never as long as I would like. I’ve got more to say.

I have many finished pieces sitting here in my Scrivener. Stuff about my crazy family. Stuff about my marriage. More stuff about my medical life.

They are for sale.

For example . . .

The Los Angeles Times took only half of my essay on my experience coming off long-term opioid use, which they bought in 10 minutes, and even kicked someone else off that coming Sunday’s page. Hee hee. I have never been so popular and probably never will be again. You bet I savored it

I took the leftover 1,000 words and developed then into another 2,500 that is a different, unique telling of what years of opiates/opioids did to me.

Anyone want to bid?

The Los Angeles Times had bought an essay I wrote about returning to work after disability through the state’s program, something I have never blogged about.

But alas, my story was wiped out by Covid-19 and never ran. Booooo!!! The news cycle moves fast.

It’s still here. Who wants it?

I got a ton more.

I will also take commissioned work. Like a Renaissance artiste.
